Hp Pavilion Dv2000 Vista Recovery Disk Download
Posted By admin On 06/05/18Click to expand. You would be better off doing a clean install and anyways the restore feature itself takes around 1.5hrs. There are two ways to restore the PC back to factory state: 1. Press F11 when you boot the system at the HP splash screen and this will make use of the restore partition on the HD to put the system back to factory state.
Use the recovery DVD's you created/purchased, boot the system with the recovery DVD's and it will do the same as well. Ofcourse, in either case you will have to reinstall any software you have on the system that didnt come with the PC. So make sure you have the installation discs for the stuff you use. Also do remember to backup your personal files and folders even though the HP restore partition has an option to save them, just in case the non destructive recovery doesnt work. Hi all, I'm playing IT support for a friend of mine. Same laptop as the OP, much more complicated problems =P I also would like to reset this laptop back to the factory settings, but when I hit F11 during reboot the HP recovery app starts up and then crashes.

Laptop stays on (all the little LEDs are on at least) but the screen is black and they keyboard is unresponsive as far as I can tell. Of course there are no recovery disks. I don't know what the hell this guy did to this laptop, but I'm going on 10 hours trying to clean up all the trojans, malware, viruses, dialers, and hijackers I think I finally have the system infection free. Problem is that services are screwed five ways to Sunday and core windows applications no longer work. I don't know if this is a normal thing for an HP laptop or not, but the recovery partition is currently detecting as a USB bluetooth drive in xp. DO I have any options here at all short of hucking this thing out the nearest window?
Thanks in advance. Click to expand.I wonder if that system still has the recovery image. After I made my recovery disc I deleted the image and merged the recovery partition with the primary. Try to get a copy vista and do a clean install.
You can use the oem license using the sticky guide on this forum or the key on the bottom on the laptop. Which you may have to call MS to activate.
As for the BT drive do you have any BT dongles connected to the USB? Personally I quit fixing friends computers since they never appreciate the work that goes into it. And yes, people are really careless how they allow their systems to get severely infected.
I remember one time a system being so screwed up the virus had turned off windows update and I had to go into the command prompt and type some lines to manually jump start it again. Thats one area where people screw up is they don't get the MS security updates which as we all know can leave a system wide open. Or they get cheap and don't get a working AV after their free crappy 30 days of norton expires. But if you want to know how they do it they generally frequent warez and porn sites. You best have some good AV and firewall protection if you go to those sites.
One last think you might try to jump start his system is try to get all the MS updates and doing a system restore using the oldest restore point.
How to create a 2nd set of HP recovery DVD's This works for ONLY those legit HP owners who own an HP laptop and burned one set of recovery DVD's. This information si strictly for legitimate HP owners who have purchased a laptop with an OEM version of VISTA/XP and have lost or ruined their original recovery discs.

- Mike By the way credit goes to the website at for providing useful details on how to do this! Thank you to all who contributed to this thread and helped me figure out how to run a 2nd DVD Recovery Copy. I'm guessing both solutions work (deleting hpcd.sys or hpdrcu.prc) depending on the version of Win7 and the model of HP. On my (AMD 64) Pavilion with Win7 Home Premium, I found only the hpdrcu.prc files. However, as Win7 lacks a proper search (Find) feature, some may find it hard to find both files; e.g. 1) If you have partitioned your drive, you may have removed the drive (letter) for the Recovery Partition.
